The Yoga Heights Yoga Teacher Training program is a life changing journey that allows students to take time for deeper study of yoga, self-reflection and growth, as well as exploration of the career options to teach yoga. Here’s what some of the training graduates have had to say about the program:Why did you sign up for this specific teacher training program?“To further my own personal practice and learn more about poses and the practice”“I was already attending classes at Yoga Heights and loved the space, vibe, and people."“I was considering several teacher training programs, but Yoga Heights came at just the right time. I was switching jobs, and the schedule was really ideal (meeting one weekend each month). The schedule was a big draw for me and looking back, it makes a lot of sense because it gives you a lot of time to process each weekend and complete the required classes. I was already practicing regularly at Yoga Heights and was really excited that they were going to offer a teacher training program. Also, I met with Jess to make sure it was the right fit and that meeting was immensely helpful in making a decision. I really appreciate Yoga Heights' commitment to bringing yoga to under-served communities and I really wanted that to be a part of my teacher training.”Which weekends and topics were your favorite parts of the training?“Assisting - learning how to facilitate increased strength, balance and flexibility in each pose, and inversion workshop - learning to progress my own inversions, being able to work on control, and learning cues and ways to teach others to start/progress their inversions.”“I liked the presentations for the various kinds of yoga and I loved the weekends where we took classes (Sivandana, Nidra, Rocket, etc.)”“I think about our discussion surrounding yoga and cultural appropriation regularly. Also, weekend 4 was one of my favorites, all of the inversion and assisting workshops were really fun. Those were areas of teaching that I didn't feel great about at first, and I left feeling really good about my ability to do them and help others get there. Creativity on the mat was also a really great weekend. And business of yoga / teaching yoga to unconventional audiences.”How did you feel about the group dynamic with your training classmates?“The group dynamic was something I have yet to experience in my life up until now. It was a worry that the bond that was forged during our time together would fade shortly after training completed. Happily, there seems to be no signs of abatement.”“I think we had a diverse group of people that helped create a great dynamic.”What else would you tell people about the Yoga Heights Yoga Teacher Training?“I want to do it over again just to never forget the immense feeling of gratitude and light I felt each and every weekend. I accomplished my personal goals and then some. It was truly one of my favorite things I've done this far in my life!”
